Prior to joining Knight Family Wealth, Ashton held an 11+-year career at Thomas Financial, beginning as the sole Staff Accountant before being promoted quickly to Controller in 2010. As the Controller, Ashton led all aspects of accounting operations, including planning, organizing, staffing, coordinating and reporting. Ashton worked closely with Thomas Financial’s CEO, generating financial reports and statements and assisting with sales goal development, company budget preparation, tax returns and other various year-end planning items.
During her tenure, Ashton spearheaded a new initiative at Thomas Financial: the Executive Compensation & Retirement Planning division. Ashton’s focus was on the strategic planning of executive benefit programs including Keyman, Buy Sell, Split Dollar, Qualified and Non-Qualified plans, tailoring each to appropriately suit the needs of her clients.
Ashton’s licenses include Series 6 (Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Representative Qualification Exam), Series 65 (Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam), and the Florida 2-15 Health & Life (Including Annuities & Variable Contracts) Agent License.
Ashton earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Tampa. Originally from Alabama, Ashton now resides in Tampa, FL but it still a diehard Bama fan. Ashton enjoys spending her free time biking, snowboarding, traveling and reading.
